Et overraskende og anderledes album fra Rufus. Udelukkende klaver og hans formidable stemme. Ligger nært for at sammenligne med lieder. Kræver noget af sin lytter, men for den tålmodige åbenbarer sig en stor intimitet i sangene, nøjagtig som til den fantastiske koncert han gav for nylig i Koncerthuset.

Den længede ventede opfølger til 100th Window. 7 år tog det, men så indeholder den til gengæld også to af karrierens bedste numre: Paradise Circus med vokal af Hope Sandoval (ex-Mazzy Star) og inciterende håndklap samt Splitting the Atom med vokal af Damon Albarn.

Bill Callahan: Sometimes I Wish We Were An Eagle

Opdagede lidt sent Bill Callahans fremragende album udsendt i starten af 2009. Tidligere udgav han dystre lo-fi sange under navnet Smog. En udgivelse i eget navn (det er kun sket en gang tidligere) gav løfter om en sangskriver, der har begivet sig ind på nyt land, og det gjorde mig nysgerrig. 
Som titel og cover antyder er Sometimes I Wish We Were An Eagle en poetisk og smuk plade. Melankolsk, men absolut ikke uden håb og humor. I centrum er Bill Callahans dybe røst, og sangene har virkelig fået luft under vingerne med de smukke og lette strygerarrangementer. Som al god musik kræver den et par gennemlytninger, og bliver derefter bare bedre og bedre.
For alle med hang til Lou Reed, Bob Dylan, Leonard Cohen og alternative singer/songwritere.
